MailStart.Com is the
technology demo for WebBox and provides a way to check your email from any web browser once every 7 days. With the growing popularity of
the Internet, and the World Wide Web (WWW) in particular, many of us find ourselves in
places that have WWW access. Unfortunately, few people or companies can or will allow you
to modify the configuration of their email package to check YOUR mail, and in the case of
web kiosks or other access limited systems there are no email features at all.
MailStart.Com allows you to use a WWW Browser to read your
email, reply, forward, delete and send new messages, making your email accessible from
anywhere. There is no need to get a different email address or have your mail forwarded,
MailStart.com is a gateway that actually contacts your mail server and converts the
content to HTML allowing easy access to YOUR regular email.
MailStart is able to access your email account because of
standards set forth by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF). These standards
have homogenized email access by developing 2 email protocols, SMTP and POP3.
Because MailStart uses the standard email protocols, accessing your email with MailStart
is just as safe as using any email client such as Eudora or Microsoft Outlook. For

respectively. Of course
there are services that do not use the standard protocols (ex AOL and MSN) and as a result
MailStart will not be able to access these proprietary email servers.
A NOTE ABOUT THE INTERNET: Because of the high amounts of
traffic on the Internet, It may take a while to retrieve the mail information from your
server. Please be patient and do not hit the stop button on your browser, or resubmit the
form. If there is a real problem accessing your mailbox, a message will let you know what
happened and suggest a remedy for it. If you consistently get an error message, please Read the MailStart.Com FAQ or Contact Support to make us
aware of the problem so we can correct it.
